.... Hm.... Solid setting... ... No. Can't figure what you are talking about, sorry. =/ Where is that solid setting? do you know? And what is a preview render? The only preview render I can think about is the little box that show you a part of what your final render would look like in the 3d viewport.

This generates a quick & dirty animation without all the detail of a final render. The output file uses whatever you've specified as Blender's output format and location. You can change what features get recorded using the 'View Properties' panel for the window.
